Pontiac man charged after 7-year-old calls 911 to report shooting

Dijan Lamar fired shot while babysitting 3 children, sheriff's office says

PONTIAC, Mich. – A 22-year-old Pontiac man is facing charges for allegedly firing a shot into a living room floor while babysitting his girlfriend's three young children.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said Dijan Lamar fired the shot early Sunday morning in an apartment on Cherry Hill Drive while he was babysitting a 7-year-old girl, 2-year-old boy and 1-year-old boy.

The Sheriff's Office released a 911 call the 7-year-old made.

"Can I get a policeman?" the girl told the operator. "He shot his gun at the floor."

The children were not hurt.

Lamar is charged with discharging a firearm in a building, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was arraigned Tuesday.

He has a criminal history that involves retail fraud and controlled substances.
