Pontiac man hit by Jeep, killed while crossing road

Police say victim was crossing Telegraph Road south of Hazel Avenue

PONTIAC, Mich. – A 51-year-old Pontiac man was killed Monday when he was hit by a 2013 Jeep Wrangler while crossing northbound Telegraph Road south of Hazel Avenue.

Police say a 49-year-old Highland Township resident was driving the Jeep in the left lane when it hit the man at 9:36 p.m.

The Pontiac man was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.

Police say the man was not crossing the street at a crosswalk.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor for the driver of the Jeep and is unknown in the case of the man.

The crash is still under investigation.
