Pooch hops in Detroit police car

Police searching for owner of brave German Shepherd

DETROIT – A Detroit police officer got quite a surprise Friday morning. "He looks like a wolf. When my partner opened the door that was the first thing that came to mind. It looks like a wolf just jumped into the car," says Officer Steven Laine or the Detroit Police Department.

Imagine how you would feel if you thought a wolf was sitting in your lap. That was the unusual encounter Laine's partner had. At first glance it may resemble a wolf, however this lost dog just wanted to be a police K-9 for a day.

Laine explained that he jumped right over his partner, got in the front seat and decided to go for a ride. The black german shepard, jumped into his patrol car around 6:30 this morning. The dog was friendly and well kept, not signs of a stray. The four-legged friend was hoping to stick around, but the officers had to drop him off at the Detroit Animal Control Center at 3511 West Jefferson where he will be held for the next four business days.

"No tags, no collar. He was in the area of Mack and Nottingham right by Grosse Pointe. Hopefully someone will see this and find that it's their dog and come down here and claim it," says Laine.

If you recognize this dog, please have the owner contact the Detroit Animal Control Center at 313-224-6356
