Power outage forces some Detroit schools to let out early

DETROIT – Due to a Detroit Public Lighting Department power outage, the following schools are on a delayed closure Friday.

Each school will officially close only after all parents have been notified and students have been returned to parents or guardians.

Friday's issues come the same week more than two dozen schools were forced to close early because of a power outage.

Students were let go from classes early at 31 schools, which included three Education Achievement Authority schools. Some traffic lights were also knocked out.
