Public meetings set on future I-94 project in Detroit

Project involves rebuilding 6.7 miles between Conner Avenue and I-96

DETROIT – Two open-house meetings to gather public input on the future I-94 modernization project in Detroit are set for Tuesday.

The public will be able to provide feedback on future options and configurations for the freeway.

The meeting will be attended by MDOT, construction consultant staff and interested stakeholders.

Tuesday's meetings are 9 - 11 a.m. and 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Cathedral Church of St. Paul (Barth Hall) at 4800 Woodward Ave. in Detroit.

Thursday's meetings are 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at Wayne County Community College's Eastern Campus at 5901 Conner Ave. in Detroit.

The I-94 modernization project will involve rebuilding 6.7 miles between Conner Avenue and I-96.

Included in this project is utility and bridge replacement, improvements to freeway interchanges, the construction of continuous service drives, and an additional freeway lane.

Bridge work will continue through 2018, with freeway work scheduled to begin in 2019.
