Blood work from his first veterinarian visit with the rescue revealed that he was heartworm positive.  The vet suggested a chest x-ray to determine how badly Bugzy was infected with them.

He will need to completely recover from the surgery before he can be treated with for the heartworm. The surgery and the heartworm treatment will most likely end up costing the rescue close to $2,000.  The little guy is going to have to endure weeks of kennel rest while he receives treatment - but is expected to make a full recovery.
