Punch Bowl Social in downtown Detroit receives bomb threat

Troy resident arrested in incident

TROY, Mich. – Punch Bowl Social in downtown Detroit received bomb threats Friday, which led to an arrest in Troy, according to police.

Detroit police said they got a call around 2:30 p.m. Friday from a woman who said she got a phone call from someone saying there was a bomb inside the popular downtown restaurant.

The call was traced back to a home in the 3600 block of West Big Beaver Road in Troy. Authorities got a search warrant and brought in a helicopter that circled the home and flew very low around the area.

A police K-9 went to the scene and searched but didn't find any explosives.

Detroit police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted at the scene. Local 4's cameras later captured them taking a man into custody as well as a laptop from inside the home.

Local 4 went back to the home to see if we could find out what exactly happened. The woman who answered the door claimed not to know anything.

Police have yet to release the man's name who they took into custody.

At Punch Bowl Social, it was business as usual. Earlier, police blocked off several streets including Broadway, John R and Gratiot while they investigated, but those streets have since reopened.
