Winfield was accused in multiple attacks in Detroit and one in Grosse Pointe Park.

In June, Winfield was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced life in prison.

What happened

Police notified the public of a possible serial rapist wanted in connection to at least three sexual assaults on the city’s east side on Jan. 7.

The incidents appeared to be related due to the manner in which the crimes were executed. They were all home invasions in which the man attacked the victim with either a blunt instrument or a knife. The assaults happened in the early morning hours.

The majority of the incidents happened on Radnor Street. Residents were advised to lock their doors and windows as police canvassed the neighborhood.

A sketch of the rapist was released and it resembled a sketch from an assault in Grosse Pointe Park on Cadieux Road.
