Recap of live blog for Bernard Kilpatrick's sentencing

2:02 p.m. -- Bernard Kilpatrick has been seen wandering around the first floor of the court house by himself. He is waiting to get into Judge Nancy Edmunds Court Room, as she has another case in there right now. We have just been informed, Kilpatricks case may be delayed a bit as the other case is still underway.

2:04 p.m. -- The other case has ended and the defendant Bernard Kilpatrick has entered the court room.

2:08 p.m. --The Government Attornies are in place: Mark Chutkow, Michael Bullotta, Jennifer Blackwell, Eric Doeh - Jennifer Blackwell looks lie she will speak for the Government.

2:13 p.m. -- The clerk calls the case - Judge Edmunds address the two objections filed by Kilpatrick's attorney John Shea.

2:16 p.m. -- The first Objection is the money given to Bernard Kilpatrick from Karl Kado - $100,000. Shea argues it was a contribution to Kwame Kilpatrick for Mayor not intended for Bernard.

2:31 p.m. -- Judge Edmunds agrees with the defense objection because she feels there is not enough evidence to support it - the objection is granted and the levels are lowered by two levels to 15 to 21 months.

2:32 p.m. -- Shea makes his statment on behalf on Bernard Kilpatrick.

2:37 p.m. -- Bernard Kilpatrick was a successful businessman and father long before Kwame Kilpatrick was elected Mayor of the City of Detroit. Bernard has never had any brushes with the law, and his sentence should reflect his entire life.

2:39 p.m. -- Bernard Kilpatrick is guilty of sloppy accounting and poor business practices. He has not been convicted of the RICO counts. He is not a danger to the public.

2:44 p.m. -- Jennifer Blackwell addresses Mr. Shea's remarks.

2:48 p.m. -- Blackwell addresses the fact that Bernard Kilpatrick was part of conspiracy and the jury did not find him "not guilty" and he should get the full extent of the guidlines.

2:48 p.m. -- Bernard Kilpatrick will speak on his behalf.

2:50 p.m. -- Bernard has a written statement: he has brought misery to his family and he "messed up" he has deep regrets for his participation in "this thing."

2:54 p.m. -- Judge Edmunds is now sentencing Kilpatrick - she says the evidence shows Bernard was part of the conspiracy. The money he obtained was as a result of his relationship with the mayor. There was not much value in his consulting business. He is devoted to his family, but he has a problem with gambling which may account for the amount of money that "ran thru his fingers."

2:57 p.m. -- The tax conviction guidelines are 15 - 20 months but that doesn't take into account the overall facts of the overall crimes.

2:58 p.m. -- For the tax crime 15 months in prison

2:59 p.m. -- $62,212 in restitution

3 p.m. -- Sentence to begin after the first of the year. She will ask he be held in Texas.
