Redford police receive helping hand when suspect leaves behind ID, crack cocaine

Driver leads police on chase, flees through neighborhood on foot

REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A driver attempted to elude police after a traffic stop in Redford Township, but left behind his driver’s license and crack cocaine in the center console of the vehicle, according to authorities.

Police stopped a vehicle around 1 a.m. Friday with a plate that did not have matching identification. According to police, the man drove off when officers got out of their patrol car. The chase lasted about three minutes, reaching speeds of 60 mph, before the man stopped and fled on foot through a neighborhood, police said.

Police found the driver’s identification and drugs in the vehicle, but were unable to catch the driver. No injuries or damage to property were reported.
