Renderings released of outlet mall planned for Romulus

'Outlets of Michigan' set to open off Interstate 94 in 2016

ROMULUS, Mich. – Renderings were released Wednesday of the 360,000-square-foot outlet mall that is planned in Romulus.

New England Development and Paragon Outlet Partners said opening of "Outlets of Michigan"-- which will be off Interstate 94, opposite of Detroit Metro Airport -- is planned for 2016.

Specific outlet stores weren't named, but the developers said approximately 90 stores would occupy the site.

One unique feature of the mall will be the parking. It will be in an oval shape around the stores, referred to as the racetrack.

"The great thing about the racetrack is that from a shopping standpoint, the consumer will generally enter and exit at the same point. That means they're walking past every storefront while they're shopping," Paragon Outlets Vice President Michelle Dawson said.
