Report: I-94 needs changes to prevent another winter pileup in Michigan

DETROIT – Police and state highway officials are recommending changes to Interstate 94 in preparation for the winter to prevent another massive pileup.

The new report covers 143 miles of the interstate but focuses on the 4-mile stretch where 193 cars piled up this past January in Kalamazoo County. The report suggests the cable barriers be relocated away from the median-side shoulder to reduce collisions with the barriers and reduce backups.
