DETROIT – A rescue crew pulled a man out of the Detroit River late Monday afternoon.
The man was spotted in the water near the U.S. Coast Guard station at the foot of Mount Elliott Street.

Crews took him out of the water and could be seen giving him CPR while on the boat. He was then put into an ambulance on shore and taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital.
Water temperature at the time the man was found was 37.5 degrees.
According to Local 4 medical expert Dr. Frank McGeorge, the human body starts to shake after 1 minute in these water temperatures. After a few minutes you start losing control of your body and can drown within 5 minutes.
The man survived and is being treated for hypothermia.
