Detroit police search for Wayne State police Sgt. Rose's killer

DETROIT – The reward for information leading to an arrest and prosecution in the fatal shooting of Wayne State University police Sgt. Collin Rose has been increased to $82,500, Detroit police announced Wednesday.

Police had increased the reward to $62,500 Wednesday morning, but it has since been increased by $20,000.

New evidence was released Tuesday night in the search for Rose's killer. Police released images of a flashlight and a bicycle believed to have been used by the shooter.

"The Detroit Police are looking for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the subject
responsible for the fatal shooting of Wayne State University Police Sergeant Collin Rose on Nov. 22 at
approximately 6:30 p.m. on Lincoln St near Selden St. Officer Rose was shot and killed when he stopped
to investigate a man who was riding a blue mountain bike," Detroit police said in a statement.

Rose was shot in the head Nov. 22 while stopping a man on a bicycle off the WSU campus at the corner of Lincoln and Brainard streets. Rose was at the scene investigating car break-ins in Detroit's Woodbridge neighborhood.

"We have an officer who's been shot," Detroit Assistant Police Chief Steve Dolunt said. "He was doing the stop of an individual on a bicycle. He was shot once in the head."

Rose died days later in a hospital.

Rose was 29 years old and a graduate of Ferris State University. He was engaged to be married next October.
