RICHMOND, Mich. – It's always difficult when a pet passes away, and some people find comfort in giving their pets a final resting place on par with humans.
In Richmond, that will soon be an option.
As part of an upcoming expansion of Richmond's 18-acre cemetery, a portion will be converted into a pet cemetery.
The reaction to the idea from residents has been very positive.
While all of the details have not been worked out, residents will be charged $300 for a plot. Non-residents will be charged $500. People who don't have pets might have trouble understanding the relationship.
Development of the pet portion of the cemetery will cost the city about $4,500 and will include 342 plots.
