Summit to discuss cyber safety in government

LANSING, Mich. – Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is hosting Michigan's third summit to address cyber security issues in government, business and other sectors.

The North American International Cyber Summit will be at the Cobo Center in Detroit on Monday. Experts from across the country will discuss trends and safe practices in cyber security.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and former Homeland Security secretary Michael Chertoff will be among the featured speakers, along with military leaders and private sector experts.

The summit will include discussions about data theft and security breaches, which can be costly to the government and businesses. The Michigan government is hit by 500,000 computer attacks each day, according to the state. These attacks include spam, web browser attacks and network intrusion.
