MANCELONA, Mich. - A class ring lost 44 years ago has finally made it back to its rightful finger.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that the now-75-year-old Nelson Hoogerhyde of Alba found the ring in 1969 when he was washing his GTO hot rod at a self-serve car wash in Traverse City.
He says he tried unsuccessfully over the years to track down its owner, but wasn't able to do so until recently when he returned it to Stephen "Mike" Willsey of Lake Ann.
Willsey was upset when he lost the ring, which cost $150. He helped pay for it by working 50-cent-an-hour jobs.
