Officials said the project is being constructed in four phases:

  • The first phase involves the intersection of County Center Drive East and the southern entrance to the Oakland County Jail.

The second phase, including this closure, will involve the section of County Center Drive East from just north of the phase one intersection to just south of the northern entrance to the Jail.

Officials said this section of County Center Drive East will be closed throughout phase two.
  • Phase two is expected to last about three-and-a-half weeks, until sometime in the week of Aug. 25.

During this phase, officials said the detour route for County Center Drive East traffic will be Hospital Street to Court Tower Blvd. to the South Courthouse Parking Lot and vice versa.
  • Phase three will include County Center Drive East from north of phase two through the intersection with Court Tower Blvd. North and including Court Tower Blvd. North.

This section of County Center Drive East and all of Court Tower Blvd. North will be closed throughout phase three. The detour route during this phase is Hospital Street to Court Tower Blvd. South and vice versa.

Phase three is expected to last about six-and-a-half weeks.
  • Phase four will involve reconstructing County Center Drive East from the northerly limits of phase three to north of the northern intersection with Powerhouse Dr.

Officials said this section of County Center Drive East will be closed during phase four. The detour route will be Hospital Street to Court Tower Blvd. South and vice versa.
  • RCOC said the project is expected to cost approximately $1.2 million. Oakland County general government is paying $1 million and RCOC will pay the remainder of the project's costs.

The work will be performed by Cadillac Asphalt of Belleville, according to RCOC officials.
