Victim treated for non-life threatening injuries

DETROIT – The Michigan State Police Metro Post is investigating a traffic crash that happened at about 7 a.m. Friday on northbound M-39 (Southfield Freeway) near Warren Avenue in Detroit.

A red 2001 Chevy van was traveling in the right lane of northbound M-39 just south of Warren Avenue when a black Chevrolet Tahoe with two unknown occupants passed it and threw something at the victim's windshield.

The victim said that the Tahoe then slowed down beside her and struck the rear driver side of the vehicle in a "police style pit maneuver," sending the van into a spin. It spun at least three times before striking the freeway wall.

The driver of the van was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Four child passengers in the van, aged nine, eight, seven and six, were uninjured.

State troopers are continuing to investigate the incident, and ask anyone that sees a black Chevy Tahoe with minor damages to the passenger side, or any witnesses with information, to contact Trooper G. Paetz at 248-584-5782 or the Michigan State Police Metro Post at 248-584-5740.
