ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - A Rochester Hills firefighter suffered chemical burns early Thursday morning while battling a fire at an industrial complex.
Chief Ronald Crowell said the fire at the building in the 1900 block of Star-Batt Drive happened just after 5 a.m. and one of his crew members was burned on his legs from chemicals that were inside one of the businesses.
The firefighters injuries are not life-threatening and Crowell said the firefighter is expected to be OK.
A hazmat crew was also called to the scene because of the chemicals. Crowell said any run off is being kept out of the storm drains as a precaution.
Cleanup was expected to take up most of the day Thursday.
Investigators said the fire started in a storage area and burned a hole in the top of one of the businesses but also caused smoke damage to six others.
