Romulus man thrown from sled pulled by pickup truck, dies

LONDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Authorities say a man has died after being thrown from a homemade sled being pulled by a pickup truck in southeast Michigan.

The Monroe County sheriff's department said in a statement Sunday that 25-year-old Robert L. Tackett of Romulus died at an Ann Arbor hospital following the about 10 p.m. Saturday crash on private property in London Township, about 40 miles southwest of Detroit.

Investigators say a 27-year-old man from Romulus was driving the pickup truck and Tackett was ejected from the sled, striking a tree.

The department says Tackett had multiple injuries. The driver wasn't injured. The crash is under investigation.
