ROYAL OAK, Mich. - A gun shop in Royal Oak responded to complaints and has ended sales of a target depicting a figure in traditional Muslim clothing.
The target showed a skeleton figure with a beard, wearing a long robe and turban and brandishing an assault weapon.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations-Michigan received a complaint about the target and took the complaints to the owner of Target Sports in Royal Oak.
The group saw the target a perpetuating misconceptions of Muslims. It viewed that image as provocative and dangerous.
The gun shop owner listened to the complaint and decided to stop selling the target, which is distributed by a company in Ohio, which produces other targets with names like "Wall Street Zombie" and "Redneck Zombie."
