Rain and storms expected to continue into Monday

Highs in the low, mid 50s

DETROIT – Parts of Southeast Michigan experienced some scattered showers Sunday, but it wasn't a complete wash-out. Heavier, more widespread showers will be reserved for late Sunday night and into Monday.

It looked like a chilly, damp day for those attending the Detroit Tigers game against the Chicago White Sox. Jackets and hats were needed because it was chillier than average, again. Average highs are near 65 degrees this time of year.

Sunday night had more rain in the forecast. Thunderstorms were possible with heavy downpours at times. By the end of the night, many spots will receive up to another half inch of rain; bringing many totals between a quarter-inch and 1 inch of rain.

Monday will have showers and thunderstorms producing up to another inch of rain in the Detroit area. Some waterlogged areas will have ponding on roadways and rising water in creeks and streams. Residents along the Hamburg and Clinton rivers and River Rouge will need to monitor levels very closely and be prepared to move to higher ground. Afternoon temps will be in the mid 60s.

Tuesday morning has leftover showers, then the afternoon will be drier. Highs will be in the cool mid 50s, so jackets and windbreakers will be needed, again.

Wednesday through Friday will be sunnier and a bit milder with highs in the low- to upper-60s.
