AG Schuette expected to announce more charges in Flint water crisis

Charges expected Friday

LANSING, Mich. – More charges are expected to be announced Friday in connection to the Flint water crisis, according to a source.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette is expected to announce charges at 11:30 a.m.

Special Counsel Todd Flood and the the Flint Water Investigative Team will announce criminal charges along side Schuette.

Two Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) employees and a city of Flint employee were criminally charged in connection with the Flint water crisis in April.

MDEQ's Mike Prysby and Stephen Busch were charged with misconduct in office, conspiracy to tamper with evidence and tampering evidence.

Flint employee Michael Glasgow was charged with tampering with evidence and willful neglect of office.

Schuette filed a civil lawsuit against two water engineering firms for alleged professional negligence and fraud in the lead poisoning of Flint's water in June. The suit is against Veolia and Lockwood, Andrews & Newman (LAN).

Flint's water became a national issue after the city used the Flint River as a way to save money, but lead leached from aging pipes as improperly treated water flowed into homes and businesses.
