DETROIT – A cash reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by Crime Stoppers to anyone with information on the identity of the person who shot and killed Adrian Tolbert this past August.

Tolbert was a father of four who family members said was dedicated to providing for his children: Laquan, 17, Adrian, 11, Jeremiah, 8, and Chrishawn, 4. He had completed two years in Job Corp where he studied ophthalmology.

Someone else took my child's life and he did not deserve to be killed," said Tolbert's mother during Tuesday's news conference.

At about 1:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, Tolbert was leaving his mother's home in the 5700 block of Harding Street on Detroit's west side. He had left to check on his wife next door when shots were fired. The sound of gunshots reached the family members in the mother's home, who then called police.

Tolbert was taken to St. Johns Hospital where he died from injuries.

The reward will be raised to $3,500 if the tip leads to an arrest of the person of interest by 12 a.m. Wednesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call 800-773-2587, or submit a tip online at www.1800speakup.org.
