DETROIT -

A September sentencing date has been set for Kwame Kilpatrick for his convictions on racketeering and extortion.

Kilpatrick will be sentenced Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. before District Judge Nancy G. Edmunds.

His co-defendant in the trial, Bobby Ferguson, is set to be sentenced the next day -- Sept. 4.

In March, Kilpatrick was found guilty of 24 charges.

He’s been imprisoned, and denied release several times, while awaiting his sentencing date.

He could get 20 years in prison for the racketeering convictions alone.
