Shelby Township man charged in crash that killed 2 children

Funeral held Thursday for 2-year-old boy and his 8-year-old

DETROIT – A man who is accused of being drunk when he caused a crash that killed two children in Detroit has been charged.

Two-year-old Lavale Harvey and his 8-year-old sister Alana Lee were driving with their mother Jan. 8 when their car was hit head-on Hoover near Seven Mile Road.

Lavale died instantly. His sister died days later from her injuries.

Their mother was not seriously hurt.

David Leslie Lamberson, 62, of Shelby Township, has been charged with second-degree murder, operating under the influence of alcohol causing death, and reckless driving causing death.

Authorities did not specify what Lamberson's blood alcohol level was, but sources told Local 4 he was twice the legal limit.

The young siblings funeral was held Thursday.
