Shelby Township police investigate 'suspicious' puppy petting incident

Police release picture of pickup truck from May 19 incident

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Shelby Township police have released the picture of a Ford F-150 pickup truck they say was driven by a man who suspiciously stopped to pet a puppy last week.

On May 19, the man stopped and asked two minors who were walking their puppy in the area of 25 Mile and Schoenherr roads if he could pet the puppy, according to a statement from police.

After petting the puppy, the man got back in the pickup truck -- which is either white or gray -- and drove away.

"Although no crime was committed, this situation is considered suspicious in nature," police said.

The picture of the pickup was taken from a residential security camera.

The only description of the man released by police was that he was white and in his 40s.
