A 28-year-old man was shot in the head while driving, causing him to crash into a home and start a fire on Detroit's east side.
The crime scene stretched along three blocks, before ending in the 1500 block of Cedargrove Street early Saturday morning.
The victim crashed into a home on Cedargrove after he was shot, which then caught fire.
Police tell Local 4 the driver was shot in the head. The female passenger in the car suffered minor injuries.
There were 12 people inside the home at the time. They all made it out safely, but the home was destroyed, leaving them homeless.
A neighbor, Keith Kimbrough, who lives across the street from where the fire took place, tells Local 4 he and his family heard the explosion and reported stray bullets entered their home.
"When I first heard the explosion the guy was still in the driver's seat. I ran over there and I grabbed him out."
Kimbrough says he pulled the victim out of the car just after dodging stray bullets.
Police say the incident is still under investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
The victim rescued from the drivers seat is still listed in critical condition.
