Shooting on Detroit's east side injures 3

Police: Triple shooting involving 2 teens may be gang related

DETROIT – Three people, including two teenagers, were shot Saturday evening in front of house on Detroit's east side, according to police.

Police believe the shooting may be gang-related and that drugs may have been involved.

A 20-year-old and two 16-year-olds were sitting on the front porch of a vacant house on Mckinney Street when a black Impala or Chevy Malibu drove up with four people inside.

One of four inside of the car yelled out a gang name before someone shot at all three victims. They were struck in the leg and were rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They are expected to be OK.

Clothing and sneakers were left in the middle of the road after the shooting. People from the neighborhood said the violence is out of control and needs to stop. Neighbors said gangs shouldn't get too comfortable setting up shop on their streets.

Police said the vacant home the boys were standing in front of was likely going to be turned into a drug house.

The three victims in the hospital aren't saying much, according to police. Police added that they are beefing up patrols in the area.
