Metro Detroit Weather: Light to moderate rain Saturday night

Overnight lows in low 40s

DETROIT – A ton of moisture on a conveyorbelt across Missouri and the Ohio Valley. It slowly moves in to southern Michigan and the Detroit area this weekend. Rain becomes more widespread Saturday night and Sunday. Relief delayed until the middle of next week.

Saturday night will have light to moderate rain with overnight lows in the low 40s.

Sunday will be wetter with heavier showers, at times, and some thunderstorms. The Michigan Humane Society's Bow Wow Brunch will be indoors at the MGM Grand Detroit. Temps will barely make it to 60 degrees or a bit more in the afternoon.

By the end of Sunday, the ground becomes waterlogged and flooding becomes a concern. Low lying areas along the Clinton River, River Rouge and Hamburg River will be most susceptible to rising water. Areas with poor drainage will have ponding. Remember to drive alternate routes if you come across any standing water. "Turn Around, Don't Drown" will be a major theme by the end of the weekend and early next week.

Showers and storms are possible Monday, too. Some warmer air arrives with highs in the mid and upper 60s.

The last rounds of rain pass Tuesday morning. By Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday, the region will dry out and recover.
