SIAS band prepares to play at Winter Blast in Detroit

Meridian Winter Blast kicks off this weekend at Campus Martius

DETROIT – The Meridian Winter Blast presented by Quicken Loans kicks off this weekend and bands such as SIAS will be performing.

SIAS was created by Josias Yglesias, Haley Grant and Scott Posada in 2011.

"We're really inspired by Motown and a lot of world music, also reggae," Yglesias said.

The band uses a variety of sounds, techniques and practices in their Corktown studio.

"We started to fuse different sounds together and different genres and we're really passionate about playing live instrumentation on stage," Yglesias said.

The band will be a part of Winter Blast for the first time this year.

"It's a great event to be a part of and it's our first time, so we are super thrilled about it," Yglesias said.

The band has been practicing covers and originals.

They will perform from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday on the Soaring Eagle stage.

Winter Blast starts at 4 p.m. Friday and is also running Saturday and Sunday. It costs $3 to get in or you can bring three canned good items. If you go to the North American International Auto Show and get your hand stamped, you get in for free.
