Son bound over to stand trial in death of parents in Rochester Hills home

Jeffrey Maurer facing two counts of first-degree murder

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The son of an elderly couple who were found dead in the garage of their Rochester Hills home will stand trial on murder charges.

The bodies of William Maurer, 87, and Gayle Maurer, 85, were found Jan. 19 in the garage of their home on East Maryknoll by deputies who had gone to check on them when their daughter reported not being able to get ahold of them.

Their 53-year-old son, Jeffrey Maurer, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

He was bound over to stand trial Tuesday.

Investigators said Maurer has a history of domestic violence, mental illness and drug and alcohol problems.
