Southfield police: Undercover officer shoots, kills suspect who pulled gun on him

Southfield police say officer involved in deadly shooting at apartments on Greenfield Road near 9 Mile Road

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – According to Southfield police, an officer was involved in a deadly shooting Tuesday at the Cornerstone Village Condominium complex in the 23000 block of Greenfield Road just north of 9 Mile Road.

Police say the officer was part of the Oakland County Sheriff's Narcotics Enforcement Team. The team was conducting an undercover drug investigation at the condos when a suspect pulled a weapon on one of the undercover officers. The suspect placed the gun to the officer's head in an attempt to rob him.

The officer pulled out his own gun and fired shots at the suspect, striking him.

The suspect, a 17-year-old from Southfield, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The officer was not injured.
