The Detroit Historical Society will be hosting three events this weekend coinciding with the 200th anniversary of Detroit's final independence from the British.
On Saturday, Sept. 28 the Historical Society will host a book signing of "Border Crossing," written by senior curator Joel Stone, at the Detroit Historical Museum.
On Sunday, Sept. 29, the Museum will also host a flag raising commemorating the War of 1812 victory at 2 p.m. outside on the Legends Plaza. The new documentary "War of 1812 in the Old Northwest" will be screened at the Museum both Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Detroit Historical Museum is located at 5401 Woodward Avenue. It is open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission is free. Parking in the Museum's lot is $5.
