St. Louis Rams to cut WR Titus Young, just like Lions did

DETROIT – Wide receiver Titus Young, who was released by the Detroit Lions last week, will be cut by the St. Louis Rams on Friday, according to what sources have told ClickOnDetroit.com's Rob Parker.

Lions head coach Jim Schwarz said Young was released to get rid of a distraction. The Rams claimed him by waivers within a day.

The 2011 second-round pick was banished from the Lions three times last year because of his behavior.

He refused to line up in the correct spot during a Thanksgiving Day game against the Packers, and he has criticized the Lions organization on Twitter.

First, he threatened to never play football again, and he later directed comments toward the team:

"Oh I'm not done, if y'all going to cut me let me go. I'm tired of the threats," Young tweeted. "Never needed the money Give me a dollar and a ball bet I come back #HallofFame."

Young, 23, had 33 catches for 383 yards and four touchdowns in 2012, which was his second NFL season after being drafted in the second round in 2011 out of Boise State. His career totals with the Lions include 81 receptions for 990 yards and 10 touchdowns.
