DETROIT -

The Pontiac man wanted for beating his 6-year-old stepson has been caught, police say.

State Troopers working in conjunction with Oakland County Detectives arrested Earnest Milton Friday at a home in Lansing.

A three-count warrant was issued for the 32-year-old Milton Tuesday after the babysitter walked in on him severely beating the child with a belt, apparently because the boy received a bad report from his teacher that day.

Milton fled his home on the 100 block of West Cornell before deputy’s arrival.

During the investigation deputies observed severe welting and bruising to the boy’s back as well as lacerations to his arm.

Further investigation revealed the stepfather routinely beats the ten children living in the house ranging from age 12 to 1.

Milton's wife was not home at the time of the alleged assault. Two of the children were found to have old wounds from previous beatings.

The 6-year-old boy was taken to a hospital where he was treated for his injuries before being released.

Child Protective Services is now seeking placement for the children. Milton is currently being held in the Oakland County Jail.
