STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Sterling Heights police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide at the Polo Green Apartments near Canal and Schoenherr roads.
Police believe a 44-year-old man returned home and shot his 44-year-old wife before shooting himself. Both had suffered gunshot wounds to the head.
Their bodies were found Thursday morning after police were called to do a welfare check. Someone reported shots fired at the home.
Police say the man was arrested May 21 on a domestic violence charge. A no contact order was issued as part of his bond conditions.
Two of the couple's three adult children were in the home at the time. They were awakened by the gunshots. The couple's 19-year-old daughter found her father and called 911.
Sterling Heights police are still investigating but believe this was a murder-suicide.
