Sterling Heights police investigate report of woman carjacked, robbed, kidnapped

Security cameras show suspect approaching victim in store parking lot

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Sterling Heights police are investigating a report that an 18-year-old woman was carjacked, robbed and kidnapped from the parking lot of a Target store on Friday afternoon.

Investigators said the suspect walked up to the victim's car while she was parked at the Target at 35700 Van Dyke around 1 p.m. Friday.

The suspect produced a black colored semi-automatic handgun, motioned for the victim to slide over, and then entered the drivers' seat of the vehicle, telling the victim that if she cooperated nothing bad would happen.

The suspect drove the victim to the rear of a plaza located on the northeast corner of Irving and Van Dyke, approximately one mile south of Target, during which time he placed the handgun on his lap.

When they arrived, the suspect took an envelope containing less than $100 dollars, the victim's cellphone and her shoes.

Before getting out of the car, the suspect warned the victim that if she followed him or called the police, he would kill her.

He was last seen walking back towards Van Dyke.  The victim returned to work, where she notified a co-worker and police.  Video obtained shows the suspect walking through the Target lot and also approaching the victims' vehicle.     Â
