String of car break-ins reported in Sterling Heights

Police say windows busted out, purses, iPod stolen

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Sterling Heights police say they're investigating a string of car break-ins that all happened in a one-mile area.

Police said five people reported break-ins between 18 Mile and 19 Mile roads and Ryan and Dequindre roads.

Stolen in the break-ins were loose change, purses, an iPod and a cell phone, police said.

In all of the cases, police said, the passenger side window had been broken out.

One victim even found a pack of cigarettes under the passenger seat, but said he doesn't smoke, police said.
