String of Plymouth break-ins has residents on edge

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – A string of break-ins has Plymouth residents on edge.

Three homes were hit Saturday evening and police believe the same men hit homes Tuesday in Plymouth and a home Wednesday in Northville Township .

Investigators say the men are breaking into high-end homes when they know the homeowner isn't there.

A muddy footprint stains the door of Glen Spice's home that burglars kicked Saturday evening.

"I'm yelling, 'Hey! Who's in my house?'" said Spice.

Spice lives on a cul-de-sac in the Rolling Oaks subdivision near Beck and North Territorial roads. He had just missed the home invaders. He came home to find that they went through his home taking off with jewelry he bought as Christmas gifts.

"So these guys made a clean sweep of the whole house, made off with a few thousand dollars' worth of jewelry, kicked my front door in," Spice said. "So I hope they have a nice Thanksgiving."

Burglars also hit Dan Goodfellow's home in the Rolling Oaks subdivision. His home was robbed three years ago to the day.

Goodfellow isn't surprised that more burglars are back. The thieves that grabbed tablets and flat screens from his home three years ago were never caught.

"Exactly three years ago today," Goodfellow said. "Maybe the interest is for the holidays or something."
