DETROIT – Finding a summer job that pays well may be easier this year.
An annual survey by Career Builder finds 53 percent of employers offering summer jobs this year have openings that pay $15 or more per hour.
That's well above the Federal minimum wage of $7.25.
Seventy-two percent will pay their summer hires an average of $10 or more per hour. That's up from 64 percent last year.
While summer jobs are commonly associated with recreation and outdoors work, companies are hiring for a variety of professional and support positions, including customer service and office support.
The survey also found that a wide majority of employers, as much as 77 percent, will consider some summer hires for permanent positions.
