Survey: Tooth Fairy payouts continue to decline

Survey finds the tooth fairy is cash-strapped

DETROIT – What's the market for teeth these days? Apparently, the demand is lowering.

A new Visa survey found that American children are paid $3.19 per lost tooth, which is down 24 cents from last year. This is the second straight year of decline.

The survey included more than 4,000 parents varying in gender, race and location.

It also found that dads are more generous than moms. Dads give $3.36 on average, while moms are only dishing out $2.87. Also, parents in the Northeast U.S. give more than the south.
