As a deputy neared the gas station, he saw the Saab driving northbound on Gratiot and turning westbound on Gallup at a high speed. The vehicle flew through a stop sight at North Avenue and hit a silver Hyundai that was traveling southbound on North.

The crash caused the Hyundai to hit a home and the gas meter attached to the side caught fire, also lighting the car on fire. The driver of the Hyundai was able to get out of his vehicle.

The crash forced the Saab into the front lawn of the same home, where the driver got out of the car and ran from the scene on foot. Police were able to detain the front seat passenger.

Police evacuated the four residents of the home that was on fire, and the fire department extinguished the flames.
