Suspicious vehicle fires under investigation in Royal Oak

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – A string of suspicious car fires is under investigation in Royal Oak.

Three vehicle fires occurred within a four-block radius between Monday and Thursday.

The first incident involved two car fires Monday around 3 a.m. on the 900 block of Whitcomb Avenue. Both vehicles were parked on the street.

The second incident happened Thursday around 2:30 a.m. on the 600 block of Millard Avenue. The vehicle was parked in a driveway. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames and the occupants of the home were evacuated to a safe area. The fire caused some minor damage to the home.

The fires are being investigated by the Royal Oak Police Criminal Investigation Division, in conjunction with the Royal Oak fire marshal and Oakland County arson investigators.

No one was injured in either of these incidents.
