SUVs crash into school bus on Detroit's east side; 2 adults in serious condition

DETROIT – Four children and two adults were taken to the hospital after two SUVs crashed into a school bus on Detroit’s east side.

The crash happened at the intersection of Morang Avenue and Beaconsfield Street at about 3:30 p.m.

There were four children and two adults on the bus at the time of the crash.

Bus No. 302 was dropping kids off from Nichols Elementary, heading east on Morang Avenue, when two SUVs slammed into the school bus.

The four children are special needs students and were moved to another bus.

The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a silver SUV was trying to make a right turn onto Morang Avenue when it collided with a dark SUV. The impact sent both SUVs crashing into the bus.

The students were taken to St. John Hospital for observation and are expected to be OK. The bus monitor and bus driver were not injured.

The man and woman in the SUVs were injured badly but were alert when they were transported to the hospital.
