TAYLOR, Mich. -

On Monday morning, the Payless Shoe store on Eureka Road in Southgate was robbed.

A man with a gun robbed the clerk and sped away. Police were able to get the robber’s license plate. By Monday evening both Southgate and Taylor police converged on the suspect and made the arrest in Taylor.

With that one arrest, police may now be able to solve more than 10 recent store armed robberies.

Sources told Local 4 this is the same armed robber in action on Sunday in Flat Rock robbing a Subway restaurant.

Sources say the same man has been on an armed robbery rampage -- hitting stores all over the downriver area.

Police from several Downriver communities have been working together to connect the man under arrest to those robberies.

Local 4 is told the suspect recently served two years in prison for a felony firearms charge and was released from prison about a year ago.
