Willie Wallis Jr., 16, remains hospitalized following the fight that happened last Wednesday at the charter school.

"Perpetrator got the victim down on the ground, had him pinned to the ground, struck him several more times" said Detroit police Capt. Nick Kyriacou.

The fight started in a hallway and spilled over into a classroom.

"The teacher was having difficulty getting the two apart. Fortunately, an older student was able to intervene and assist the teacher." Kyriacou said. "They were taken to the principal's office and shortly thereafter our victim suffered a seizure."

Wallis is recovering at Henry Ford Hospital. A source told Local 4 his injuries include a broken jaw and fractured skull.

Police said the fight may have been in retaliation for another incident Wallis was involved in a couple of weeks previous.
