Teen reports attempted abduction at bus stop in Detroit

Girl fends off stranger, gives police detailed description

DETROIT – Detroit police said a 15-year-old girl reported having to fend off a man who tried to grab her as she waited at a bus stop Friday morning.

The teen was at the bus stop in the 16000 block of Hubbell Street just after 11 a.m. when the man confronted her, police said. She hit the man with "a couple of objects" and was able to get away, police said.

The teen was very specific in her description of the man to police: white, 60 years old, 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a big upper body, skinny legs, protruding stomach and walked with a limp. He had short hair, braided, and a gray and white full beard and mustache.

He was wearing a brown long-sleeve button down shirt, blue jeans and white gym shoes. The man was driving a gray Ford Taurus that had butterfly and Hawaii lei-like flowers hanging on the rear-view mirror.

Anyone with information on the man is asked to call 313-596-5440, or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK-UP. A text can also be sent: CSM and the tip to CRIMES (274637).
