Teen shot, killed on Detroit's southwest side

Victim found Thursday morning on Sharon Street near West Vernor Highway

DETROIT – A 16-year-old was shot and killed Thursday morning in Detroit.

The teen was found just after 6 a.m. on Sharon Street near West Vernor Highway.

Witness Anna Bailey told Local 4 she rushed to the teen's side when she saw him laying on the ground.

"There was a faint pulse but couldn't really feel it. I could see there was one bullet hole to the chest," Bailey said.

She called 911.

"It's sad because the kid really didn't even have a chance to live if his life is lost because of this. He's just a baby," Bailey said.

The teen was taken to Henry Ford Hospital, but died.

Police said they are still investigating why the teen was shot -- and whether the teen was shot near where he was found or if he was shot somewhere else on Sharon Street.
